More GOP lies: Obama outsourced.

I thought I'd take a gander at the GOP's new website, supposedly cataloging jobs that were outsourced to foreign companies.  It said to follow the jobs, so I did, and this is what I learned.

The very first one I happened to click on (Russia), Ener1, the GOP spin site said this:
"Ener1 Received Over $118 Million In Stimulus Funds To Produce Vechicle [sic] Batteries. After Going Bankrupt, It Was Acquired Outright By A Russian Investor, Sparking Security Concerns Surrounding The Company's Work for The U.S. Military."
Spelling and capitalization errors aside, jobs weren't outsourced.  A foreign company bought out ener1, and that's supposed to be an example of outsourced jobs?  By the way, those jobs are still in Indiana.  Maybe the profits flow out to a Russian investor, but the jobs weren't outsourced.

The second one I checked (Switzerland), Landis+Gyr, the GOP spin site said this:
"Swiss-Based Landis+Gyr Received Over $50 Million In Stimulus Contracts For Their Smart Grid Meters. Cathy Zoi, A Former Obama Energy Department Official, Held Over $250,000 Worth Of Stock In The Company As They Profited From Her Department's Policies. Zoi Had Previously Served As An Executive Director At Landis+Gyr Before Joining The Obama Administration."
If there was outsourcing, I didn't see it, did you?  Maybe they're inferring that US stimulus money was shipped overseas?  But the problem is, Landis+Gyr was split into regional companies seven years ago, which included the acquisition of American companies based right here in the good ol US of A.

And what they didn't tell you, was that the money didn't flow directly to Landis+Gyr, but rather it went to local jurisdictions, who had bid out contracts for smart grid / meter products.  By law, governments accept lowest bid.

I'm going to go out on a very short limb and speculate that the entire GOP spin site is completely full of falsities and innuendo, and nothing to do with job outsourcing.

It's not often that I read blogs, and I don't know what your political views stand with, but the quick research you did meets the same idea that I had. The RNC will have a field day with this, because so many people in this country never actually study what these ads are about or if they are even factual. Good job!
