Google royally messed up Nexus 7 distribution.

Normally the benefit of pre-ordering something, is that you'll get it before anyone else, and you won't have to worry about running out and finding your local store empty.  That's why people - like myself- bought the Nexus 7 tablet, including the $13.99 shipping fee.

But it turns out retailers have been allowing pre-ordering (and now live ordering) of the Nexus 7 tablet, with FREE shipping.  Some people have already grabbed their Nexus 7 tablets from places like Gamestop.

And we, the blokes who were suckered into paying $13.99 for shipping, are stuck waiting in a queue of pre-orders, that will arrive LATER than other people who buy elsewhere without paying for shipping.

That's terrible management.  It devalues the importance of direct orders for consumers, and a loss of direct orders means that Google keeps less of the profit.  Everyone loses when Google messes up this badly.
