Why no one believes North Korean threats.

This week, North Korea issued threats to sever the 1953 armistice treaty that had put a stop to the Korean War and to launch a preemptive nuclear attack on the US.  Today the Chinese voted with the rest of the UN Security Council to pass stricter economic sanctions in response to North Korea's third nuclear test.  North Korea followed the vote up with an announcement that it had gone ahead and cancelled the armistice treaty.

Meh.

If they invaded South Korea, you wouldn't see the Chinese make even a feeble attempt to stop the US, Europe, Australia and others from obliterating the North Korean military and its political leadership.

If they shot a nuclear weapon against anyone, you would see their entire nation disappear in a rain of bombs and heat so intense that it would scare Iran straight.  And the Chinese wouldn't step in.

In short, no one takes their threats seriously, because you see, North Korea would thus be advocating its own death.
