The two-sided argument: Payroll taxes.

Count me half-disturbed and half-amused.  People complain that we need to do something about Social Security and Medicare to avoid their trust fund depletion and forced lower benefits, yet the current headlines in the media today have been about the ending of the payroll tax holiday, resulting in a decline in disposable income.

If you're not willing to pay into the trust fund from your own pocket, why do you complain about the solvency of these programs and the forced cuts that will be required?

It's a two-sided argument, and one that makes no sense.  Either you pay to get what you want, or you don't get what you want.
