Two X-class solar flares, not directed at Earth.

Two X-class solar flares erupted, separated by 14 hours.  The first was X1.7 class, the second was X2.8.  These are big, but not that big, and they weren't directed at the Earth, so don't expect major fireworks in the skies.  All the same, it'll be worth looking up in the sky beginning Tuesday night (11:00 pm through the next morning), West coast, 5/14.

If you're wondering, Portland is at the edge of the high latitude area.
