This,
straight from T-Mobile support site:
Beginning June 11 @ 11pm EST/ 8pm PST, the Samsung Galaxy S II will have an optional software update to Android version 4.0.3 / Software T989UVLE1 via Kies. This update changes the Android OS to Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS), and improves performance and stability. As previously announced the software update will only be available via Kies, there will not be an Over The Air (OTA) push.
Note: After completing the update:
This optional update will wipe the Homescreen layout.
The highlighted portions filter down the message, including the red-flag warning that your home screen will be wiped out. I can see that many will not like that, so perhaps this is why it's an optional update for now.
T-Mobile even has a
Top-10 list of things to know about TouchWiz with ICS. Worth noting, of course, is the expanded security access options, including the new face-unlock option. Also, customizing your launch bar.
But what I'm looking most forward to, is being able to download
Chrome for Android, that requires ICS. This way, my bookmarks will always be synchronized and accessible, regardless of device.
