Hooooly COW! Google's buying Motorola Mobility

Talk about a huge deal...according to Engadget, Google's going to buy out Motorola Mobility for $40/stock or $12.5B -- that's a 64% premium over the closing price on Friday.

Okay....first off, I never believed it could be possible.  Staska over at unwiredview.com wrote about this very scenario just last Thursday, and I didn't believe Google would buy out a manufacturer, for fear of upsetting its OHA hardware partners.  Holy Staska, I bow down to your all-prescient ways...you got it 100% right!!!

I wonder what the possibility is for getting rid of Blur UI, and have nothing but pure Android?  OMG, this is truly the biggest announcement this year, by way of mergers, and will shake Microsoft's foundations -- Motorola definitely won't be producing any WP7 phones anytime soon.

But, I'm sure that the Justice / FTC will screw this up somehow...I just know it.

Larry Page (Google CEO 2.0) made his post about the announcement.  In it, Page flat out says, "Our acquisition of Motorola ... will enable us to better protect Android from anti-competitive threats from Microsoft, Apple and other companies."

No doubt, eh?
