Google's Project Glass.

Does a virtual pop up display via a small accessory on your head sound fascinating?  I think it does.  It's not a product that will be here next year, but ideas and prototypes that will mark the next step following the smartphone, in say 5 or so years.

And yet, it is still the middle step towards what Brin and Page ultimately want to do, which is to allow a device to read your mind and help you make better decisions faster.

“Ultimately I view Google as a way to augment your brain with the knowledge of the world. Right now you go into your computer and type a phrase, but you can imagine that it could be easier in the future, that you can have just devices you talk into, or you can have computers that pay attention to what’s going on around them.” -- Sergey Brin, quoted from, "In the Plex."
“Eventually you’ll have the implant, where if you think about a fact, it will just tell you the answer.” -- Larry Page, quoted from, "In the Plex."
(Go ahead and click through on the links to "In the Plex", to understand what happens when book data is searchable.  They're not exactly the same link, even though they reference the same page.  It gives you a picture of what is possible in the future, if people allow their books to be scanned and shared.  In a decade, it may be practically impossible to commit verbatim plagiarism.)
