Obama leads all Republican candidates in Iowa -- the much too early poll, June 3.

Public Policy Polling has just published results of a poll in Iowa (time = May 27 - 30 / n = 1,387), examining how Obama would do against the field of Republican candidates...and he beats them all handily:

Barack Obama 49% Mitt Romney 40% Undecided 12
Barack Obama 49% Tim Pawlenty 37% Undecided 14%
Barack Obama 50% Herman Cain 32% Undecided 18%
Barack Obama 54% Newt Gingrich 33% Undecided 13%
Barack Obama 55% Sarah Palin 35% Undecided  9%

Demographics of those polled in Iowa:

Very liberal 9%
Somewhat liberal 18%
Moderate 34%
Somewhat conservative 22%
Very conservative 17%

Democrat 37%
Republican 34%
Independent/Other 28%

By the way, Iowa's unemployment rate for April 2011 was 6.0%, and it might be interpreted as not having as much of an effect on how people are feeling about candidates.  But if you look at the graph, their unemployment rate has been floating at around 6.0% for over a year, so there must be some angst there.

I think, IMHO, the polling data is sending a strong signal by voters, that they think Paul Ryan's plan to shift Medicare burden to retirees, stinks.
