Might this guy shake up the world, just a little bit?

He's working on an everyman's 3D printer that utilizes stereolithography, which makes for extremely high resolution models.  Right now, there is the Makerbot that is based on fused deposit modeling, and then there's online Ponoko and Shapeways that uses selective laser sintering.  If you were to rank the quality of output from best to worst: stereolithography, selective laser sintering, fused deposit modeling.

Stereolithography machines cost tens of thousands of dollars.  This guy is targeting a much lower price-point that could completely turn the industry on its head.  This would have been handy 25 years ago when the darn Walkman buttons broke.

Note: The Wikipedia entry on stereolithography is a bit dated, as prices are much lower than stated.
