Fowl takeover; the Willamette River is rising -- photos from the past few days.

It all started a few days ago, with this fowl bro-fest.

Then, this coy little fella has established himself (or herself) in the Pearl, at the Tanner Springs Park...or at least he's been there the past two days I've walked past. This was taken yesterday (Wed / 6/01) at night - 8:56pm, from my phone.  Wildlife in the Pearl.

This high water on the Willamette River is eating away at the banks along a condo-turned-apartment-building-because-it-didn't-sell near the Pearl. Why it was just 5 years ago, I recall seeing the river claim the excavation of this building's basement, which was done in the middle of Winter. Prognosis: bad...it's making its way to the underside of the concrete sidewalk.  The high waters will last for several weeks, and with the 80-degree warming trend for this weekend, I bet the river rises even higher.

In fact, the water has been so high, that boats have to pay attention at bridges.

In at least one area along the Willamette, the water is washing up debris on the Greenway path.

I noticed something that is very disturbing: a lot of the debris floating in the river and caught up by the high river, is expanded polystyrene and plastic...or often considered deadly to fish and birds who mistakenly think that this is food.
