Chief Federal Judge in Montana hides from his bigotry.

Follow the story:

The US Chief Judge of Montana receives a political email joke about President Obama.

He sends it out, with the written pretext in his email saying, "Normally I don't send or forward a lot of these, but even by my standards, it was a bit touching. I want all of my friends to feel what I felt when I read this. Hope it touches your heart like it did mine."

But it was not some touching story; it was a crass joke that placed interracial sex only slightly above bestiality.  If you want to read it, you can click through to read it.

According to the Great Falls Tribune, "The judge acknowledged that the content of the email was racist, but said he does not consider himself racist."

After being caught, his response was that, "It was not intended by me in any way to become public."

Thus, the conclusion:

He isn't acknowledging that he holds bigoted views.  Rather, he's apologetic that an email was made public, exposing his bigoted views.  He's like the person in court, awaiting sentencing, appealing for leniency by apologizing for his/her actions.  In fact you know that he/she is just sorry that he/she got caught, and now is afraid to face the punishment.

Here's a not-so-secret-secret: This is par for the course in conservative circles.  Such crass jokes and political falsehoods are frequently circulated, and I used to receive many of them.  The only way you discover these, is either by accident or by someone within one of these conservative circles exposing you to it.  In this case however, it is particularly tasteless and offensive, and seeing that he used his government email to forward the joke, he may be in deep trouble.
