In 2012, NBC and its affiliates expect you to pretend it's 1984, and everyone will gather around the TV during prime time to watch a curated show.
That's pure folly.
Everyone tunes in, in the middle of the day, to watch live-streamed games on the internet and on TV, of March Madness. It's become an annual ritual. NBC could follow this protocol, but they are stuck in 1984 with their overall strategy. Imagine if CBS decided that people actually wanted curated, tape-delayed shows, rather than live-streamed and live-broadcasted , for free?
NBC's holding on to a losing position.
