- Was required to seek counseling for alcohol abuse and anger issues last year following...
- An arrest for disorderly conduct.
- Sent out a tweet saying that he was eager to get out of College Station, TX, only to complain that people don't understand the fishbowl he's in.
- Got kicked out of the Manning Passing Academy as a counselor, for, what apparently amounted to drinking and partying -- he showed up late and was dehydrated, often. There's even a picture of him partying up.
- And getting kicked out of a UT fraternity party.
- And partying it up at a UT sorority, in a Tim Tebow Jets jersey.
- And now, he may have been paid to sign memorabilia a la Terrelle Pryor.
After reading this ESPN write up, it seems to me that the problem begins and ends with his family.
His dad has anger issues (curses under his breath because Coach Sumlin didn't respond to his message); his dad lets Johnny drink alcohol even though Johnny's got an alcohol problem; his dad thinks it's funny to punch people in the balls; his family paid for a personal assistant and personal body guards and gave Johnny his own Mercedes; his father defended his son in online boards, leading him to get banned, then used a friend's ID to continue posting messages defending his son, leading to his friend getting banned.
Update: Yeah, it's pretty bad. Circumstantial evidence of photos and a video that ESPN's Joe Schad viewed.
If there is evidence of a violation, but no one offers to participate in the NCAA's investigation, will Johnny Football get off without punishment? What does A&M do, when everyone knows that Manziel did violate an NCAA rule?
