Stats and search engines.

I came across this article in the NYT, trumpeting stats that show Bing and Yahoo gaining on Google.  But you have to take the report with a grain of salt.  Statcounter and Hitwise reflect the international trend from Hitslink and StatOwl.  Those four show Google either flat or gaining strength.

On the other hand, according to StatOwl, searches with Bing are slightly more accurate (1.5 percentage points), based on the measurement of SERP (search engine results page), meaning, on which page of search results, do users end their search.  Obviously most people end their search on the first page:

  1. Bing = 98.24%;
  2. Google = 96.79%;
  3. Yahoo = 94.6%
