The Real Issue Concerning Jared's Back Channel

Each day I grow more convinced that the news media has shit for brains. They would rather chase the tip of the iceberg rather than see what the tip of that iceberg represents.

Case in point, the issue over Jared Kushner's back channel request of Russia.

Pushing back on the back channel story through H. R. McMaster and John Kelly defending the use of back channels is a straw man diversionary tactic. Yes, back channels are frequently used for diplomacy, although back channels are usually third party intervenors, not the opposing party's own apparatus, in which case it's not a back channel but a literal back door.

That's not the primary issue, however, the media seems to be stuck on this issue of propriety/impropriety of back channels, simply accepting this diversion away from the real issue.

What you need to look at is the timeline of Jared's actions, specifically, the fact that he tried to do this in December 2016.

Who was the President in December 2016? It was Barack Obama, not Donald.

Combine that with Jared's own anonymous defenders in the White House pushing the narrative that this was about Syria, and assume that they're being honest.

By the admission of the White House's own anonymous sources, Jared violated the Logan Act by attempting to subvert President Obama's actions in Syria, by way of coordinating with Russia.
18 U.S. Code § 953 - Private correspondence with foreign governments
Any citizen of the United States, wherever he may be, who, without authority of the United States, directly or indirectly commences or carries on any correspondence or intercourse with any foreign government or any officer or agent thereof, with intent to influence the measures or conduct of any foreign government or of any officer or agent thereof, in relation to any disputes or controversies with the United States, or to defeat the measures of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.
It doesn't matter if you agree or disagree with the direction in Syria, all that matters is that Jared's own defenders have committed to the narrative that Jared's intention was to violate the Logan Act.

We had evidence of the act, itself, while Jared's own supporters in the WH provided us with the intent.

BOOM.
