A few days ago I remarked that a government shutdown was very much possible, when considering who'd voted against the 1-week continuing resolution. Instead, the entire paradigm was shifted.
As expected, the far-right wing of the GOP voted en masse against the budget today, but what wasn't expected was the move towards bipartisanship by the establishment and moderate wings of the GOP, essentially splitting the budget issues down the middle and giving Democrats significant wins.
In a very odd way, Donald is right to complain that the news media is playing this up as a purely Democratic win; it wasn't. Yet, he decidedly failed on all of his major wants, instead, forced to watch the moderate GOP take some big wins for themselves.
It's nice to see bipartisanship once in a while.
Now, if you want to humiliate Donald, do as Democrats have been doing, namely, calling the budget a massive capitulation by Donald and a huge win for Democrats. This tends to have the effect of egging Donald to veto the bill, forcing the government into an immediate shutdown with an extremely rough vote for the House GOP to overturn. Again, the GOP know full well that they're in charge of government, and cannot escape blame for a shutdown. Just saying.
